Elizabeth Hirt Family Tree
In the middle of the 19th Century, 143 years ago, my father Charles was born. Three years later my mother Elizabeth was born into this world. Charles and Elizabeth were born into the Halbesien and Hirt farming families in Riley Township, Sandusky county near Fremont, Ohio. They married in 1881.
The six older children were born at Fremont, Ohio. In 1892 the family moved to a 160 acre farm in Leroy Township, York County just southeast of York, Nebraska. Seven more children were born at York! In 1905, the family relocated to from York to the two farms in Harrison Township, Sherman County, just South of Litchfield, Nebraska. I was born at Litchfield in 1906.
In total, 14 children had been born to Charles and Elizabeth Halbeisen over a span of 26 years (1882-1906). There were eight girls and six boys. Two girls died, Mildred as an infant and Cora as a young single woman. Two of the children never married, Carl and Louis. Three of the children married but did not have any children. Seven of the children married and 28 grandchildren were born to these seven children and the extended family began to grow!
What makes the Elizabeth Hirt branch different, is that we are so spread out across the United States. Including my parents there are now 414 persons listed in the extended family. 62 persons are now deceased with 18 of these being buried at Litchfield, Nebraska. That leaves 352 persons living at more than 117 seperate addressses in 20 different states including 44 NDD persons that are part of the extended family.
We live in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
